Whether you are professional, private or just passionate about antiques, from your Americans in Provence base in Gaujac, you will find yourself in the crossroads to what some argue as the most important region for antique markets around the world. Four times each year the region hosts the renowned “deballage professional”, or Buyer’s Market. The 4 day event starts in Beziers (2 days), followed by Montpellier and then Avignon (each 1 day). The venue’s draw worldwide vendors and buyers, providing a truly amazing market atmosphere. And if that is not enough, Gaujac is a 45 minute drive from Ilse- sur-Sorgue… they say if you can’t find it there, it does not exist! Twice a year this charming little town, already filled to the brim with antique shops, fills it’s streets with vendors from all over Europe(the most recent event posts an additional 800 vendors), providing five days of intense digging to find any and all those must have pieces of history. Just 35 minutes to the north or Gaujac you will encounter another village, Barjac, where 400 vendors transform this picturesque village into streets full of historical objects the same time frame as Ilse-sur-Sorgue.
Upon your arrival in Gaujac, you will see why I have a good idea of where to go in the region. The property is decorated throughout with piece’s of history. I have spent the last 10 years filling the Rhône Retreat with arificats from the 17th century through to the 20th century. Constantly looking for those must have treasures myself, I have created a unique concept here in, on property, that if you see something you must have, it has a price! Yes, everything is for sale.
Our culinary delights at the Rhône Retreat will be prepared by Kim Pitchford, recently transplanted from the Gulf Coast. With a veteran knowledge and expertise in French cuisine… you are sure to be wowed.
The Rhône Retreat will house all “Let’s go Antiq’Ken” participants and all meals included in the tour will be offered there. It is a gorgeous property with two separate cottages and a main house, and a sparkling pool! Each cottage has two bedrooms and one full bath. It was built in the early 1800’s and offers a glimpse of life in a quaint village surrounded by vineyards and historical sites, in the South of France. There is no better way to experience the provincial lifestyle in a prestigious setting than what you might find awaits you behind the gates of the Rhone Retreat.
This tour is a buyer’s dream. Whether your shopping for that one item you are missing, you need to decorate a room or you have a house you have to furnish…… this is a unique oppurtunity to take the hunt to France.
This is a custom to fit, all inclusive tour limited to 1 to 4 adults.
Costs are based on length of stay…… whether here to buy and fly, 4 to 5 days…… or you want to take a breather and enjoy Provence. Please don’t hesitate as I will help you find what best fits your buying desire.
